LatamGuru is a multifunctional mobile app designed to help expats in Latin America (currently Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil).

2. What Data We Collect

Personal Data (Profile)
When you create or update your account, we may collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Country and city of residence
  • Native/preferred language
  • Contacts (Telegram, WhatsApp, phone – optional)
  • Bio, skills, and role (e.g., specialist)
  • Account status and role (e.g., user, moderator, admin)
  • Specialist flag, skill list, ad limit

User Content
Depending on the section of the app, you may provide:

  • Market & Property Listings
    Title, description, price, phone, Telegram, images
    Location (country, city, coordinates for property)
    Category, language, dates
    Owner’s ID and name
  • Establishments (Businesses)
    Title, description, country/city, category, coordinates
    Language selected by the owner
    Phone, Telegram, images, owner’s ID
    (Businesses are displayed only to users located in the same country and using the same language.)
  • Reviews
    Author ID and name
    Reviewed user ID
    Rating and comment
    Date
  • Guides & Checklists
    Textual content created or saved by the user
  • Complaints
    Reporter’s ID and email
    Object of complaint (listing, property, establishment, user, or review)

Technical & Device Data

  • Device type and platform (iOS)
  • Device language, theme, region, selected country (for guests)
  • Firebase ID (unique identifier)
  • Last login timestamp
  • Authentication provider (Google, Apple)
  • Network status (for connectivity checks)

Location Data
When using maps or creating listings, location/coordinates may be collected (only with your permission).

3. How We Use Your Data

We process your data to:

  • Authenticate users (via Google or Apple ID)
  • Create and display user profiles, listings, reviews, and businesses
  • Show expat maps, guides, and checklists
  • Personalize experience (language, theme, selected country)
  • Enable communication between users (via contacts provided)
  • Moderate content, complaints, and ensure safe usage
  • Improve the app and add new features

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on external services to run LatamGuru:

  • Firebase Authentication – login and account management
  • Firebase Firestore & Storage – store profiles, listings, reviews, businesses, guides, images
  • Google Maps SDK – maps, locations, coordinates
  • Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In – authentication
  • PhotosUI & Camera Access – image upload
  • CoreLocation – location access
  • Network (NWPathMonitor) – internet connectivity
  • URLSession – remote image loading

LatamGuru does not use Firebase Analytics or Ads.

5. Permissions

We may request access to:
📷 Camera and photo library (upload profile/listing images)
📍 Location (property listings, establishments, expat map)

All permissions are optional and can be disabled in iOS settings.

6. User Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct or update your profile information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Control app permissions (camera, photos, location)

7. Age Restrictions

LatamGuru is intended for users aged 4 and older.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under this age.

8. Data Security

We implement strict measures:

  • Encrypted transmission (HTTPS)
  • Secure Firebase Authentication
  • Access rules for Firestore collections (only owners can modify their own listings/profiles)
  • Auto-deletion of unused images from Storage

9. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is stored as long as your account is active.
You may delete your account via settings; this removes:

  • Market & Property listings (and images)
  • Reviews (where you are author or recipient)
  • Your profile document in Firestore
  • Your authentication record in Firebase

Unused images and cached files are removed automatically.

10. Publicly Visible Data

Please note:

  • Your profile (name, photo, skills, role) may be visible to other users.
  • Listings (market, property, establishments) are public inside the app.
  • Contact details you provide (Telegram, phone, WhatsApp) are visible to other users.

LatamGuru complies with:

  • GDPR (European Union)
  • CCPA (California, USA)
  • LGPD (Brazil)
  • Federal Law on Personal Data (Russia)
  • Ukrainian Data Protection Law

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy.
Significant changes will be notified via app or email.
